What is Turkana?

Turkana is an advanced security software platform designed by Microsegur, specialized in the verification and alarm management of perimeter and industrial protection systems.

Microsegur, through Turkana, verifies, filters and categorizes the signals coming from the installations connected to it.

How it works

  • Turkana receives all the signals from the installation.
  • The signals are verified and categorized by expert operators.
  • The real alarms and relevant technical signals activate the protocol established with the competent Security Forces and Corps, clients and security guards.

Features of perimeter security systems

  • Low Security enclosures, such as farms, civil works, have a very low budget for security and do not require on-site surveillance.
  • High Security enclosures, such as prisons or nuclear power plants, have a high security budget and require surveillance.
  • Medium Security enclosures, such as solar photovoltaic plants, do not have a high security budget and do require surveillance.

Problems of photovoltaic solar power plants and large enclosures

Security systems for complex environments, such as solar photovoltaic plants, power plants in general or large industrial and/or commercial sites, have two characteristics that differentiate them from other perimeter protection projects:

  • Limited budget: they cannot afford, sometimes, the high security budget that requires the presence of physical surveillance personnel.
  • High number of false alarms: external factors cause the number of false alarms to be much higher than that of an indoor security system. Some cameras can reach more than 200 false alarms per day.



It is for this reason that the Turkana alarm verification service becomes indispensable in a perimeter protection system.
